21 Duel Blackjack is an unusual Playtech blackjack variant that has an element of stud poker. The rules and game play are somewhat different from regular blackjack. For example, all hands with a total of 21 are equal, including a natural blackjack.

21 Duel Blackjack starts with the ante wager. Then you will be dealt two cards, one face up and one face down. The dealer will be dealt two cards, both face down. Two cards will be dealt face up in the middle of the table as community cards as in some stud poker games. If you fold, the game will end and your ante wager will be forfeited. If you want to play, then you will have to select one of the two community cards. Automatically an additional wager, equal to the ante wager, will be placed on your behalf. You can hit, in which case your face down card will be exposed. This will complete your three card hand, which will be your final hand. If you bust with this hand then you lose and forfeit both wagers. Instead of folding you can stand. Then your face down card will be discarded and the two-card hand will be the final hand.

The dealer’s choices are governed by a set of rules embedded in the software. He ends up with a two-card hand or a three-card hand based on these rules. These rules are available within the game, but it is not incumbent for you to read or understand them. The win or loss is decided as follows. If the dealer’s hand value is more than 12 and higher than your hand value, then you will lose both the bets. If the dealer’s hand value is more than 12 but less than your hand value then you will win even money on both bets. If the dealer’s hand value is more than 12 and equal to your hand value then the bets push. If the dealer’s hand value is 12 or less then he does not qualify and you win even money on the ante bet, while the additional bet will push.

21 Duel Blackjack has an optional 2 Up wager side bet on the first three cards to be shown on the table. If these cards contain a pair you win 3 to 1 and if the three cards are three of a kind you win 20 to 1. These payouts are independent of the main game result.
